Night Must Fall

6th, 7th & 8th October 2022

The mysterious thriller set in the 1930s had originally been cast in February 2020, rehearsals had started and the show was due to be performed in June 2020.

We don’t need to tell you why the curtain didn’t rise on “Night Must Fall” first time around. However, we are thrilled that this production will finally see the lights of the Oxley stage with the majority of the original cast returning to their roles along with Liam in the director’s chair!

“Night Must Fall” was directed by Liam Tebbit, who makes his Richings Players directorial debut having previously directed for other local societies. Liam joined the Players in 2016 appearing in “Plaza Suite”, going on to appear in “The Wind in the Willows”, “Blue Stockings”, “Don’t Get Your Vicars In A Twist”, “Oliver” and last seen portraying two roles in our Summer production of “Honk!”

“I directed my first play in 2007 for The Raglan Players. That play was “Night Must Fall”. Fifteen years later, I have the honour of repeating that role with another RP; the brilliant Richings Players. This is a play that has captivated audiences for over 80 years and I can’t wait to finally bring it to Iver in October!”

When charming, smooth-talking Dan arrives unexpectedly at old Mrs Bramson’s remote woodland home he soon ingratiates his way into her life and that of her beautiful niece Olivia. But when a local woman goes missing and rumours in the press of a murder surface among the household, fingers begin to point. Has the past finally caught up with Dan and could he really be capable of murder? As the police close in, and with the press baying for blood, is anyone safe?

“Night Must Fall” from master playwright Emlyn Williams has all the tension, atmosphere and suspicion of the best British mysteries and left audiences on the edge of their seats.
