Oliver!

27th to 30th November 2019

“Oliver!” is the classic story of a malnourished orphan in a workhouse who becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by Fagin.

When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow takes him in. Fearing for the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family.

The show is one of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece by actors and audience members alike. It was performed by the Players, nearly 20 years ago in 2000.

Director Lisa says;

          “For as long as long as I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with musicals and “Oliver” in particular. I have loved directing this timeless classic, getting to know the characters in much more detail, superbly portrayed by my incredible cast. My excitement for you, our audiences on stepping into the streets of Victorian London and meeting the likes of Oliver, Dodger, Nancy and Fagin is palpable and on behalf of the society, I look forward to welcoming you, helping you to consider themselves part of the Richings Players family!”
